trans V3, volunteers and participants needed.

Post by fs » 18 Jan 2006, 04:32

urm, aku nak syorkan satu idea melampau... since dah kata nak buat aktiviti berkomuniti, aku nak suggest, kita buat xpdc gtt/trans v3 just like what the ABM did in 1997. we make it a community effort! combine all teams and individuals under the banner of GO.

amacam? a show of strength and maturity from the community! hand in hand to make this project successful! kita bincang sama2...

regardless whether the ABM was successful, this is still a great achievement. amacam? we can make it if we are united for the same cause.

however, don't do it for the fame. coz somehow when i read thru their report, i somehow think, they needed more support. and, they perhaps, needed to lighten their load. ok, maybe korang rasa, macamtu, tak hardcore lar. takpe, itu nanti kita bincangkan sama2.

1st, we need to get things started! so, who's in for the project?

CORE:
1. zaidi
2. am
3. kabusgunung
4. sos militant?
5. sos militant?
6. ayeen carlos
7. umai
8.
9.
10.
11.
12.

SUPPORT:
1. fs
2. bett
3. krow/mma
4. musz/sos
5. rob
6. hangar18
7. rdtrr
8. jemerr
9. umai
10. cs goh
11. bekambing
12. vermisse
13. orga
14. uglysister
15. master
16. kinesis maxlight
17. rembau
18. poncho
19. bekambing
20. audrey
21. jeejah
22. lypan

yang letak nama kat core, belum tentu boleh jadi core... i suggest kita buat try out/fitness.

yg letak nama kat support plak, memang banyak kerja la.... and tak semestinya kena masuk hutan. maybe kena buat logistik, PR, communications, funding/sponsorship, equipment etc. and, aku letak list 12 jer... tak larat nak type panjang2... memang kena ada ramai volunteer, coz i plan to send at least 7 groups for 7 replenish points, so that the core group does not have to carry too much...

tp, semua nih planning, kena discuss balik once we have enough participants n volunteers...

i'm kinda hoping for support from all groups, and individuals to make this project work... esp. from
ABM, OGKL, SOS, ADREX... MALAS....individuals.... etc...

amacam? do we stand united for this cause?

p/s:
i'm helping to start this project. doesn't mean i am the lead... community, kan... kita vote la.
am, adik idan, bett, musz, etc... confirm join eh?

wow!!!
this is a really big challenge....
mmg idaman semua pendaki utk buat kerja gila nie....

aku rasa utk jadik core team agak payah sbb cuti yang terhad....
jadik support team pon menarik jugak....
tapi kalau ikutkan hasrat sebenar yg terpendam kat dlm hati nie mmg nak jadik core team....

tapi bukan semua orang buleh jadik core team....

for the time being, aku hanya sanggup jadik support team....
Getting to the summit is optional, getting down is mandatory...

Stage 7: Independance Day! (31st August 1997 ) Duration: 1 day
Spot height 6040' to Empangan (waterfall ), journey of 3 hrs

Sedikit catatan harian
17/8 The team arrived at G.Ulu Sepat as scheduled and camped below at boundary point.

18/8 The next day however, the nightmare started. All over, were overgrown trails and minimal markers.
The team only managed to blaze 4 (kilometer) squares. They made the same mistakes as the rekki group in the 15th Trans Banjaran trip (the expedition that Chin, Ong & myself -Ming took). There were too many choppings and it was dark before the camp for the night was reached.

19/8 Day two of the nightmare began with a wet drizzle. Then, it rained cats and dogs. Chilly winds and torrential rain smote deeply through the raincoats. Tired, the team pushed stiffly onwards, with wet shoes and grim determination. This delayed the arrival at the Gerah summit. Richard, the fastest lead member reached the top at 7.30pm just after nightfall. He swiftly stirred up some magic coffee and tea to revive the spirits and all those who came in and managed to set up base camp in superb time. That night, the chill howling winds drove in, and everyone slept an exausted sleep.

20/8 The nightmare worsen. Many of the lead cutters, found great difficulty even in cutting down to Bukit Kembok (bukit means hill in Malay). Morale and Food were running low. Rationing had started.

21/8 Woke up at 4.30am and the trail blazing started around 7.00am. It was cold and damp that, with fine mists coiling in from the low cloud cover. Fallen bamboo forest made progress virtually imposible. In the end, they managed to cover only 3 squares.

The rainforest had reclaimed all previous trails. It seemed as though all traces of any pathway made by man had been swalloed by the Jungle. Even the experienced members such as Chin and Ong were unable to locate markes as the trail had blocked by fallen trees and bamboo. Many were feeling exhausted and miserable. With the remaining scraps of food they managed to reach the summit 5995' (Surian ).

Not all was lost however, and for Lady Luck shone that day. They managed to make a call out but were unable to communicate with the reception team at Orchid Valley. Reporters and the ABM reception committee had been waiting since the 20th August.
" No food and water for 2 days. Great difficulty in locating the previous trails. Resupplies urgently needed."

By then, Dr. Wong (ABM President and overall trouble shooter) and the Support Team were ready to go. The following are live reports straight from Dr.Wong Sai Hou himself in Orchid Valley. Known for his amazing endurance on the Trans Banjaran Expeditions, it was once again time to don the old Expedition Boots and give the ABM Team the Support they needed (like a charging bull, Dr.Wong carried on and on... I often wonder where he gets his energy from). As the climate was cold, the recent trouble of humidity would not be such a problem for him.

22/8" This was the third day I awaited for their exit. Ah Hee our 4x4 transportman came in at 11.00am with the above message. Luckily N. Ganason was awaiting at Orchid Valley to join the Core Team. He was instructed to lead 6 Orang Aslis to bring in resupplies. The support team left at 12 noon."

"I proceeded back to Petaling Jaya to organise another support team. At 7.30pm Richard called. He sounded very distressed and demoralised. He reported having no food. They could perhaps cut down from Surian to the south 3 squares at the most with the last of their energies." "By hook or by crook, I was to ensure that they get the necessary resupplies."

23/8 "The next day, I arrived back at Orchid valley, together with the 2 remaining OA (Orang Asli) and 6 others including myself, we brought more resupplies. After 2 hours of brisk trekking, we encountered N. Ganason. He had camped at the 4th river crossing at Bukit Manik, the expected rendevous with the Core Team."

"However at 1.00pm and the fact that the Core Team had not arived, they left camp after leaving behind the supplies. They (the Support Team) were not happy to stay as the valley was hit by howling winds and broken branches. It was already 3.30pm and no time had to be wasted to reach the Core Team."

The two Support Teams join forces and proceeded to to the campsite at Buit Manik. Meanwhile the Core Team had managed to reach Bukit Manik and were savouring the resupplies when we found them."
"There was much relief and happiness and they exited at Orchid Valley that night for much needed R & R."

24/8 It was Rest day. All the equipment were throughly drenched and wet. Even laptops were not working. 2 members had to withdraw due to injuries and exhaustion. One, because her father was gravely ill. Later in the day the much refreshed Core Team proceeded to the next leg of their journey

26/8 Just out from Orchid Valley. Core Team has been delayed by 2 days. During this time, Richard was unable to send out e mail but everyone has reached Orchid valley safely and the resupply has been succesful.

27/8 aku tak jumpa rekod dia - bett

28/8 Sorrylah brother, am having mountain sickness. Can't remember much thing now but to survive in this terrain.
"Kow sai", the recce trip from Gerah to Ulu sepat that you have done one year ago is horrible.
- You're telling me? - Ming
A lot of wrong trails, but will still follow and then attempt some back trackking.

ehehe... support pun bley jadi mereng woo...

anyways, aku ingat nak antar masuk few support groups kasi beban macam unta, to stand by at check points to replenish the core team. core team minimise burden. but, still kena coti panjang... and finish the whole journey...

however, if we play our cards right... with the right PR, we might get the necessary media coverage to get the backing of gov. so that, senang sket le nak dapat cuti... etc.

AJK mmg needed, that's the responsibility of the support group. sebab tu aku kata, jgn pk glamer je. yg jadik support is also a vital part of the project. masukkan nama dulu... pastu buat meeting and we divide into AJK's. I hope we can get at least 60ppl for support... at the very least.

so, bett... confirm ar... support. sure, takmau core?... hehehe, tak mau try dua2 part?

btw, aku ingat kalau our planning is good enough, having enough manpower/AJK (esp. PR) we might just persuade media companies to document/record the whole journey. cameraman can be changed at check points.

but, semua ni, idea jer... kena ada cukup tenaga kerja baru boleh merealisasikan.

AJK:
1. PR - media, permits, sponsorship (if any)
2. logistics - pengangkutan, 4x4... etc
3. ....
4. ..

I'm really support have to discuss a lot..

Lebih-lebih lagi berkenaan Core Team.. i would like to make a support at Korbu Peak.., Yong Yap Peak.., Yong Belar Peak...

Berkenaan Calon for main core team.. SOS were planning to sent out two of our best Militant..

Saya juga merasakan kepentingan yang teramat sangat untuk mengadakan XPDC Ulu Sepat Yong Yap... since kat situ lah GTT97 tersangkut.. jadi kami rasa elok jugak kalau kita kasik clear jalan situ dulu..

This is big man...

Tapi above all this saya ada satu soalan.
Maksudnya susah jugak depa nak support sbb kita bukan persatuan berdaftar.

Ni semua cabaran.Kita boleh buat ni , insyaAllah.
Together we make it happen.

Hi,

Aku berminat jadi core group untuk projek ni tapi itupun kalau buat tahun 2007 atau 2008. Tahun ni, dah banyak commitment daki gunung.

Memang projek ni menarik tapi memerlukan penglibatan ramai orang yang betul-betul comitted. Yang paling penting bukan core group tapi support group sebab mereka yang kena buat persediaan dari segi perbelanjaan, logistik, penajaan, publisiti, perhububgan awam dsb.

Keep in touch dan semoga projek ini berjaya.

as far as i concern,

there are few major issues:
1. duit: bagi orang asli, porters, 4WD, makanan, communication equipments.....
2. highly experienced trail blazers in core team
ini lagi penting, walaupun ada orang asli bantu cari n potong jalan lama, kadang2 kita pun kena guide them on correct direction n trail.
if not, core team will be delay for re-supply. macam ABM lepas Gerah, trail banyak yang salah semasa recce dulu2 lagi
3. air n bagai2 unexpected conditions

it can be done and carefully plan is vital.

wah!

semua idea2 bernas! bagus la... ni belum dok bincang satu meja lg... memang nak kena buat paperwork... but, just wanted to know sambutan mcmana. kalau setakat 10org je nak commit... commit suicide le...

musz, yep! setuju hantar recce team dulu for certain part of the trek, kasi clear/mark trail.

master, yep! support pun boleh jd core, vice versa... infact, both parties kena work close together.

yongyap, kita bukan persatuan berdaftar. i know... but mcm yg saya ckp kat awal posting... we need to work together, persatuan and individu. especially, bab PR... that's where we might get funding, permit, backing... etc. tp, setakat ni, mcm takde persatuan yang interested to work together? but, i believe, it still can be done... back breaking work tho.

zaidi, most probably around 2007, hopefully. but, it depends... this year?don't think so ler... a lot of paperwork, planning...

cs_goh, i think i plans for the resupply. but, kena cukup org nak buat... hehehe... unta.

salams!

supply team x perlu bebankan macam unta.. khidmat porter perlu jugak.. nanti supply team sangkut, core team masalah. so carik porter org asli untuk supply team.

salams mesra! :D

umai... meh join. ni open buat semua... so nak masuk core ke support?
goh... can we count you in? we can really use your expertise, technical advice, brainstorming... etc.
hangar18... support/core?

bett... nanti organize miting ek? kat kedai minum boleh, atas nuang pun boleh... ehehehe.

am, musz... korang nak buat recce trip ulu sepat, gerah, yong yap. btw, aku rasa team core patut ikut recce team ni... for a lot of reasons.

1. biasakan among each other
2. fitness...
3. get to know trek
4. simulation of the real thing...

tp, seeloknya, not too long from the main trip. yelah, kalau dah setahun baru nak masuk balik... payah woo. more chopping to do. anyways, kalau masuk tu... try bringing in gps for data collection.

1.core team at least 4 experienced choppers ( 2 teams), boleh take turn to lead chopping.

2. trek dah marked 3 choppers atas pokok dari sempadan (ke Chamah) hingga Yong Yap. so recce baru hanya untuk mencari trek lama and collect latest terrain info. sempadan ke US, US ke Gerah, Gerah ke Yong Yap. Yong yap ke YB turun loging highlands basically is clear (ada orang jalan)

3. kalau dah recce dan masuk lagi lepas setahun, chopping kena buat juga. so bila recce terutamanya buat more marking supaya lebih mudah cari and ikut trek selepas setahun.

seperti yang saya kenal Botak Chin, dia mesti risau kita orang punya recce experience tak berapa cukup, terutamanya cari air kalau mengalami situasi kritikal. orang yang banyak pengalaman macam dia punya hadapi masalah lepas Gerah TERUTAMA OVERGROWN TREK SAMPAI TAK PASTI DI MANA TREK BENAR.

i.Jikalau ke Chamah melalui Gua Musang lagi pendek masanya berbanding Kg. Lelar baik kita memilih lalun tersebut berbanding laluan Kg. Lelar.
